  • ABOUT THE CLASS A four-hour crash course on women's self defense. We cover topics like the offender's psychological context, social behaviors, manipulative behaviors, situational awareness, and basic fighting techniques and tools.
  • WHO IS THE CLASS FOR Primarily, women aged 16+. But women aged 13-15 are welcome with an accompanying female adult.
  • HOW MUCH The class is $35 including tax, and 50% of the net will be donated to an organization supporting women who need help. We current accept cash or check (make checks out to Cutting Edge Combatives).
  • WHEN IS IT Saturday, June 10, 2017 -- 10am - 2pm (or so, sometimes it runs longer if people have a lot of questions)
  • WHAT TO BRING Wear comfy clothes you would wear to the gym, especially sneakers (no open toe/open heel shoes). Bring some water and a couple snacks, a pen -- if you'd like to take notes, and some positive energy!
  • LOCATION 1107 4th St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 -- Right next to Garcia's Kitchen, where we share a space with Duke City Krav Maga.

About the Class

Our Women's Self Defense crash course is a 4-hour class covering not just physical techniques, but also provides mental tools for identifying dangerous situations and other information important to learning how and when to protect yourself. Topics include:

  • Statistics that provide context to why you should protect yourself
  • Identifying common social behaviors and how predators use those behaviors to manipulate their victims
  • Defining Personal Boundaries
  • Basic fighting, including:
    • Punching
    • Kicking
    • Using knees and elbows
    • Discussion on how to use defensive sprays like mace and pepper spray
    • How to use a stick to protect yourself
  • Situational Awareness

The class material is most appropriate for woman aged 18 or older. Younger teens (aged 13-18) are welcome to attend provided they are accompanied by a female adult they can discuss the material and its ramifications with after the class.
